For My Dad

My dad passed away after a very short and hard battle with cancer. We have spent the last weeks looking after him around the clock and I am grateful that he was surrounded by his family when he went.
One of the last things he said to me, when I showed him a few of the things I'd recently made, was "you should do something with that - open up a little shop". I'd never before shown him anything I'd made, but he admired every little piece. I am so glad to have gotten his blessing to do something a little less conventional with my life. His opinion meant so much to be and I'm sure part of me will always seek his approval. But for now I will just need to spend some time thinking of my dad all at sea.

I am sure Dad loved that moment of sharing too and approved more than he said.

I am so sorry to hear about your dad. Those words of his are so important, and you won't forget them. It's hard to know what to say in these situations, especially when it's not even someone you know, but your experience reaches out and touches all of us. All the best, Carla.

Grieve well, my friend. It's going to be a long road. I'm so glad he got to see some of your wonderful creativity before he left you.

Tearing up a little here because I am so pleased, so very pleased you got to show your Dad and that he got to show you he appreciated your work. Precious moment. I am sorry that he's gone but so pleased you had that moment.

I am so sorry to hear the sad news. But it's great that you got to be with him before he passed. And that he loves what you do. That will stay with you forever. My thoughts are with you.
